Training

What do we offer?

Our training is designed to raise awareness of disability related issues in the workplace. Our aim is to enhance your knowledge and effectiveness, and build confidence in recruiting and supporting employees with disabilities.

Although our training will be adapted to meet the needs of your organisation, topics might typically include:

  • Definitions of disability
  • The business case for supporting people with disabilities
  • The Disability Discrimination Act
  • Best practice for making ‘reasonable adjustments’ in the workplace
  • Employing people with learning disabilities and autistic spectrum disorders
  • Exploring attitudes to disability

We are always willing to include any specific topics that are of particular relevance to your organisation.

Who is it for?

This training is aimed at anyone who is involved in recruiting or supporting disabled colleagues, particularly line managers, HR and training professionals.

How is it delivered?

After initial consultation and planning to agree on aims and objectives, training sessions are conducted at your workplace. We use a range of methods including guided discussions, slide presentations and practical scenarios. Our aim is to engage delegates as much as possible in lively interactive discussions which inform and challenge in a non-judgemental and supportive manner.

Who delivers the training?

Noel Hastings has over fifteen years experience in recruitment, and over five years experience in assisting disadvantaged groups, including people with disabilities, to obtain and sustain employment. Noel is a National Autistic Society Licensed Principal Trainer.

Pious Oppong is a specialist in Human Resources Management and Employment law, with experience in teaching, youth employment training, and four years experience of supporting people with learning disabilities to find and retain paid employment, as well as working with employers in creating merit-based opportunities for disabled people across London.
